Bathroom Bliss

The average person spends around 182 hours per year in their bathroom. It only makes sense to want to create a little oasis for yourself! Sometimes, it can be a simple change that needs to be made, or a top to bottom renovation because your bathroom still lives in the 80’s! These ideas will give you a good start to figure out what could come next.

Bathrooms don’t tend to let in a lot of natural light. If there are windows, they are usually small, making bathroom goers rely on artificial light to see. If you are doing a full remodel, try to opt for some natural light. One of our sources suggests translucent corrugated sheets of polycarbonate plastic. Basically it’s a type of plastic that has a blurring effect so you’re able to still be in the comfort of your own bathroom without being exposed. A great feature to have that pairs well with natural light is a wall in shower. Top that off with some visually appealing wall tiles and you’ll have yourself a bathroom you’ll never want to leave!

Something else to think about would be giving your bathroom the ambiance of a spa. When you step into a spa, you’re automatically more relaxed. A rainfall showerhead or a soaking tub can give this effect. Along with darker or more neutral earthy tones for the walls. Natural lighting works best, and if you’re able to get lights that can dim- even better, that way you can pick and choose your ambiance! Greenery is very important to this aesthetic as well. Not only does it add a pop of natural color, it purifies your space. Eucalyptus (if available to you) is the perfect option, and it smells amazing, especially when steam from a bath or shower hits it! If not, any indoor greenery will do just fine! Lastly, keep that fluffy robe around to wrap up after your showers!

Another option for your bathroom remodel could be to make it eco-friendly. This can include more sustainable products and environmentally conscious use of water, electricity, and other resources. There are VOC-free finishes that are safer for indoor use and won’t emit toxic gases. Make sure to install a ventilation fan as well. This will help remove moisture and will prevent future mold growth. Energy efficient lighting like LED light bulbs are a solid addition to the mix when we’re thinking environmentally friendly. A motion sensor sink is probably one of the best ways to save water too! Imagine how often we leave the water nonchalantly running while we brush our teeth. The options are endless here.

There are a plethora of ideas for bathroom remodels. Find the ones that feel right and run with it! Make your personal oasis a real life!
