Your Water Oasis
As summer draws near, you may be thinking about equipping your house with a pool to enjoy the upcoming sweltering heat! Choosing the perfect pool isn’t as simple as a dip in the water. But don’t think too hard about it…that’s what you have us for!
When it’s time to pick your pool upgrade, it’s important to consider all of your options, as one might be better suited for you than the other. There’s above-ground, in-ground, and there’s specialty pools. What you must also look out for is what types of pools are allowed in your area, as some pools aren’t permitted.
You’ll get the most bang for your buck out of an “Above-Ground” pool. These sit atop of your yard. These pools are so simple that you could put them together yourself if you wanted to. If your backyard has limited access to get into, they arrive in pieces that can be easily carried to where they need to be. And something that’s really nice is that if by the end of the summer you don’t want to keep maintaining it- you can disassemble it and tuck away until next year! One downfall to the simplicity of most above-ground pool is having no filtration system. Which means it will have to be regularly drained, cleaned, and refilled to keep it suitable for use.
A common pool style you see in almost every suburban backyard - is the “In-Ground” pool. This is a permanent structure that is built directly into your yard. Some pools, like the fiberglass pool, are usually made and delivered in one piece. Whereas a concrete pool would be poured on-site. But with a concrete pool, you’ve got the freedom to create virtually any pool shape you’d like. In-Ground pools allow for more customization- with lighting, diving boards, slides and so on. However, with all of these perks comes a bigger price and longer build time. So if you’re willing to sacrifice some time and money- it can be worth it!
Now onto some Specialty Pools! We’ve all seen this, and we all want one…the luxurious Infinity Pool. A custom made and high-cost creation, this pool is designed to give the illusion that the water doesn’t end. They’re typically seen at ocean front resorts, mountain escapes or anywhere that feels like it isn’t reality. If you’re looking to use your pool for something other than relaxation, look no further than the Lap Pool. These are designed specifically for swimming laps. It’s a straight, long, and semi narrow unobstructed space to be used mostly for fitness purposes. Lastly, we can’t forget about the hot tub! A hot tubs sole purpose is rejuvenation and relaxation. These come in an above ground option or the in-ground option. Since they are smaller in size, they tend to be less expensive overall in installation and maintenance.
If you’re considering a pool, you can expect to spend anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 for the purchase and installation of a pool. Make sure to keep in mind that most places will require a residential permit to begin working. Once you have all your bases covered, you’ll be ready to have your very own water oasis!
